Last night we had 2 awesome bands playing at the Homegrown Space.
Awanband and Bliz rocked the Homegrown Space to a very supportive crowd last night.

Bliz are very Muse but nevertheless they still do incorporate the Malaysian flavor in their music and it sounds so good.

AwanBand are almost very Hujan sounding but they are a very energetic and fun band to watch.I enjoyed their music.

Check these bands out here and show them some love and support!

I’m not sure how many of you were at this years Rock The World 9 but if you missed it, you really missed out on a lot.As in 70 different acts a lot.

This post isn’t to tell you what happened at RTW because I am very sure you can get that news from the other press that were covering the event.

I on the other hand would like everyone to see what supporting your local music is about! It was raining cats and dogs on Saturday but as you can see in the video posted below, it didn’t stop the fans.

Take a look at their support and how much they want to watch their favorite acts on stage.

If more Malaysians were this supportive, I am very sure the Malaysian music industry will be at a much higher level than it is at now.

We have what it takes!

I’m not sure how many of you have heard this but after I saw this news I was overjoyed. Our local music scene which has been struggling to get its long time overdue support has finally got the chance to prove to Malaysians that we do have what it takes to be on par with the worlds best.

What news and who am I talking about?
None other than Malaysia’s very own Zee Avi!Recently Zee’s self-titled debut album was given a spot in the Associated Press’s Top 10 Albums of the year.Zee came in 9th and this is what AP wrote:

“Listening to Zee Avi might make you recall Kimya Dawson’s quirky lyrical style, but the Malaysian-born Avi has an eclecticism all her own on her debut CD. Her voice sounds dreamy, her lyrics smart and humorous. And paired with her acoustic picking, she sounds intoxicating.”

We at Homegrown and I’m sure many of us are very proud of Zee and how much she has achieved to date.We hope she keeps doing what she does and eventually prove to the world that Malaysia has got what it takes.

Congratulations Zee!!!

Joshua Desmond | News | 12 8th, 2009| No Comments »

It has been 5 years since their very successful sophomore album Drones which spawned chart toppers such as ‘Faith’ and ‘Summary’.Since then fans have been craving for new tunes to fill their playlists with.

After 3 years of production Seven Collar T-Shirt has finally released their phenomenal 3rd album titled ‘The Great Battle’.With amazing tracks like TET, Fragile, Wild Child and more this album is definitely the best we at Homegrown have heard in a long time.

We thought that these boys or should I say men deserve all the hype and exposure they need for this exceptional work of art hence becoming Homegrown’s Artist of the Month.

Keep it locked on to the website as we will be bringing you a series of exclusive interviews with the band on the new album as well as an exclusive video of the band during one of their jam sessions!
